GETTING STARTED

Installing Scenes.

macOS requires one extra step for apps downloaded outside the App Store.

Unzip & move to Applications

Open Scenes.zip, then drag Scenes.app into your Applications folder.

Right-click → Open

In Applications, right-click Scenes and choose Open. Don't double-click — macOS will block it on first launch.

Grant Accessibility access

Scenes will prompt you. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, then toggle Scenes on.

Capture your first scene

Press ⌘⇧S or click Capture in the menu bar. Name it and you're done.

NOTE

The “Apple cannot verify” warning appears because Scenes is distributed directly, not through the Mac App Store. Accessibility access is used only to read window positions — no personal data or document content is accessed.

Which macOS versions are supported?+

Scenes requires macOS 14.0 Sonoma or later. It runs natively on Apple Silicon.

Does Scenes need Accessibility permission?+

Yes. Scenes uses the Accessibility API to read window positions, sizes, and screen assignments. Without it the app cannot capture or restore layouts. No personal data or document content is ever read.

What's the difference between Pro and Pro+?+

Pro is a one-time purchase that unlocks unlimited scenes, all app plugins, browser tab restoration, and Living Mode. Pro+ adds cloud sync so your scenes stay in sync across up to 3 Macs, billed monthly or yearly.

Does Scenes restore browser tabs?+

Yes, with the free Scenes browser extension installed. Safari, Chrome, Arc, Firefox, Brave, and Edge are supported. Browser tab restoration is a Pro feature.

What is Living Mode?+

Living Mode is a scene that updates automatically as you work — it continuously tracks your current layout so you never have to remember to capture. Great for your default working setup.

How does the 14-day trial work?+

On first launch you can start a 14-day trial that gives full Pro access, no credit card. After the trial ends you can keep using Scenes with up to 2 saved scenes for free, or purchase Pro to unlock everything.
